33rd Finale des Jeux de l’Acadie

33rd Finale des Jeux de l’Acadie

Sports and Acadian culture are set to take centre stage when the Municipality of Argyle hosts the 33rd Finale des Jeux de l’Acadie from June 29 to July 3.

First held in 1979, the games were created to promote participation in sport, foster youth leadership and nurture pride in Acadian and French culture. This year, the Finale will bring together nearly 1100 athletes from the four Atlantic Provinces; all ready to showcase their skills, create new friendships and build lifelong memories as they celebrate their heritage and the spirit of competition.

Utilizing the region’s schools and recreational facilities, the five-day event will feature boys’ and girls’ soccer, tennis, track and field, badminton, girls’ softball, boys’ basketball, mini handball, and boys’ and girls’ volleyball.

This year’s games mark only the second time that Nova Scotia has hosted the Finale and the first time a rural community has served as host.  This has been a real motivator for the dedicated members and volunteers of the organizing committee, who are all eager to put Argyle’s best foot forward.
